Baptiste Debombourg ( art now )

Baptiste Debombourg’s solo exhibition at the Centre d’Art Actuel l’Oeil de Poisson in Québec showcased Flow. The work – which is made entirely from car windscreens – is meant to mirror the devastating effects of mass consumption. Flow’s cumulative mass of materials is arranged in such a way that it resembles a giant wave – much like those in apocalyptic films such as 2012 or The Day After Tomorrow. Debombourg invites the audience to question society and self-induced finiteness. Do we swim in a sea of windscreens? Or do we remain under the glass, suffering as if trapped beneath sheets of ice?’
